Beautiful Change

On July 9th, we welcomed our little Margot Amelia into the world!

It has been a big last two months full of new experiences, adjustments, a sleepiness i’ve never known and an uncanny joy and love for this baby girl.

As a new family rhythm begins to emerge, I am excited to be returning to the felting world with a fresh appreciation and camaraderie for the mothers and fathers I will be working with to craft mobiles! I will be sure to post an update when my Etsy shop is up and running again.

A New Chapter…

I am pleased to share that my husband and I are happily anticipating a new addition to our family this coming July! I will be keeping busy with mobiles and other pieces for the next two months but then will be taking a break for a bit to get to know our little girl and the changes she will bring to our day to day. I will stop taking orders at the end of May so that I can fulfill everything before her arrival. I hope to return to my work in September when we’ve developed a bit of a rhythm.

In the mean time I will also have some fun planning my own nursery…now to choose a mobile design…

Full-time Felting

One of the more significant developments from the last couple months is that I phased out of my long-term nanny job after 8 years with the same family (and three great kids) and am now operating Sheep Creek Needlecraft full-time!

If you’ve been thinking of a custom mobile to complete your nursery, a customized animal figure to be front-and-center on your desk at work, or an area rug to keep your feet cozy on those fall and winter weekend reading sessions, send me an Etsy Conversation. I’d love to spend some time discussing your thoughts and ideas!

Marmo-what? Marmoset…

Now that I’m slowly going through my backlog of happiness and (metaphorical) rainbows, I wanted to share some photos and give a shout-out to Marmoset Music.

My friend Ryan, Director of Strategic Goodness (seriously, check out their website), commissioned me to create 25 marmoset critters for some of Marmoset’s key clients. I’ve been told that my little guys and girls are sitting on desks and bookshelves in all corners of our nation. I’m flattered to have been tagged for this project. Thanks Team Marmoset!

Not exactly sure what a Marmoset is? Initially, neither was I… Here’s the Wikipedia entry.

Workin’ it in Santa’s Shop

I’m excited to announce that Sheep Creek Needlecraft will be one of the vendors at the very first Santa’s Workshop at The Oregon Garden in Silverton, Oregon!

Santa’s Workshop will be held from November 30th through December 2nd.

I’ll be showing some of my nativities, mobiles, and critters… Rumor has it that Santa will be dropping by with two of his reindeer for a photo op on the way back to the North Pole for his final Christmas preparations. Hope to see some of you there!

Can’t Stop (felting). Won’t Stop (felting).

Answer:  Moving to a new home, summer camping, a full slate of orders, three weeks in Belgium and Spain… (WHEW!)
Question:  Why hasn’t this blog been updated since June 25?

I’ll be adding new posts to my blog in the next couple days. There are so many fun projects that I’ve been privileged to work on in the last couple months that I want to share. There are also a couple really cool things that I have in the works… Stay tuned!

When Dogs Fly?

Here is a really fun little project I just completed. This custom order featuring three “flying dogs” was inspired by the lovely “Liam the Brave” crib bedding. It includes two flying dogs modeled after pets and one rendition of the dog in the illustration.
